Picking up the brushes again…

I absolutely love drawing with india ink and a bamboo pen.  I am entranced by the sort of rough, bold character of the lines and I love the stained glass effect of adding watercolor after the ink dries.  Here’s an example (11X14):


I also did a little abstract watercolor painting today…


There is so much versatility with watercolor, but that’s also what makes it tricky.  You can paint wet into dry paper, into wet paper, you can try to paint carefully and precisely and you can splosh colors into other colors and mix paint right on the paper.  Every technique provides a different result and has its own pitfalls.  I feel like I could paint for years and not totally understand or master all of the intricacies of this medium.  And I love that.
