I’ve been working more with acrylics lately. I’m not used to the sticky plastic quality of the medium but it is still new to me and I’m enjoying the learning process. I like the ease with which I can layer colors and still achieve transparency without having to worry about the blooming or lifting that can occur with watercolor. I also like that I can very easily paint right over something that I don’t like. One aspect of acrylics that I don’t particularly like is the shininess of the finished product. I have been using a matte medium with the paint but it still dries very shiny. It makes it very difficult to photograph. If anyone has any suggestions for me in this regard I would love to hear them. I’m using Soho brand from Jerry’s Artarama…maybe there’s a brand that someone can suggest that is less shiny…?
